Silk Laundry is a carefully curated line of elevated silk basics. Started by Katie Rackley in 2014, to meet the demands of her own wardrobe. Never quite on trend, we encourage you to buy less but buy better classic pieces that will stand the test of time and can be worn over and over again.
Silk Laundry is Australian owned and designed.
We have a tiny team of three and work slightly off the grid, in Tallebudgera Valley, Queensland, Australia. We run on rain water, have chickens that free range on the property, a bee hive, regular koala visitors and are passionate about recycling everywhere we can.
Our orders are purposely kept small and regular. This is to ensure that there is minimal wastage and almost no leftover stock throughout the year. Our colors will change throughout the year, but many of our designs will stay as permanent staple pieces that you can update time and time again.
THE CLASSIC 90’s SLIP DRESS
This was the first design Silk Laundry created in 2014 and it has become our signature piece. This bias cut dress is an essential investment piece with endless possibilities. We wear ours regularly as skirts with jumpers over the top, layered with t-shirts, to cocktails and even to bed. The lightness of silk means it will always be one of the most comfortable pieces in your wardrobe and it is so versatile you will probably never part with it.
Silk is the perfect fabric to balance your body’s temperature. Its amazing natural properties allow the body to breathe keeping the body warm in cool weather and cool in hot weather. Silk clothing can also help your skin reabsorb moisture through the natural occurring amino acids found in silk, rejuvenating the skin as you go about your everyday.
Artisans in their field, the Chinese have cultivated silk fibers for over 5,000 years. Based on the deep history of silk in China and the incredible quality that can be found, Silk Laundry has selected a production facility in Zhejiang, China to produce the line.
