The organic dyes used in the natural Chinese tie dye process are extracted from isatis root and coloured by hand. Colouring with isatis root is a subtle and delicate art and no synthetic dye will match in colour or characteristics. As with any naturally-produced item, each piece will vary. Traditional Chinese tie-dye is coloured by hand, creating a unique print for each garment and no two pieces are the same.
This organic indigo dye is non-toxic, non-allergenic and does not contain any chemicals that cause environmental pollution. It creates a range of shades from deep blue to silvery hues. These colours represent clear waters against traditional white architecture and create a piece that blends modern fashion with ancient tradition.
